Events & Traditions
Rooted in Tradition. Soaring with Spirit.
Our events and traditions are the heartbeat of our community—fostering connection, joy, and lifelong memories for students and families alike. These special moments bring our mission to life beyond the classroom and celebrate everything that makes Hancock a uniquely magical place to learn and grow.

At Hancock, our traditions aren't just events—they're experiences that shape the spirit of our school and build bonds that last a lifetime.

Community Engagement at Hancock Day School
At Hancock Day School, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom—and that authentic leadership includes service to others. From their earliest years through 8th grade, our students are encouraged to make a positive impact in their community through purposeful action, empathy, and a commitment to making a difference.
A Tradition of Service
Since our founding, community involvement has been a cornerstone of the Hancock experience. Whether it's packing food for families, creating care kits for hospital patients, or lending a hand at local nonprofits, our students learn the value of giving back.
“The greatest gifts we can give our students are roots to grow and wings to fly.”
Service gives both.

School-Wide Day of Service – February
Each February, our entire school community participates in a School-Wide Day of Service, where students, faculty, and parents come together to make a tangible impact across Savannah and beyond. From pre-K through 8th grade, everyone gets involved—proving that no one is too young to serve.
Partners in Service
We’re proud to have partnered with organizations such as:
- Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia
- P.A.C.K. (People of Action Caring for Kids)
- Over the Moon
- Memorial Health
- And many others!
Middle School Service Requirement
All Hancock Middle School students are required to complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service each school year. These hours are intended to foster responsibility, empathy, and leadership.

- Must be completed with a non-profit organization
- No payment may be received for service
- Chores at home do not count
- Hours must be documented using the HDS Community Service Log
- Submit hours to the Middle School Administrative Assistant by May 1
If you're unsure whether an opportunity qualifies, please check with your Division Head.
